The Really Really Free Market!

My lovely and beautiful friend (also my favourite thrifting partner) Juana told me about it.

I thought it was just about bringing clothes and trading but it’s actually way more than that. What an impressive project. BRAVO!

“Really Really Free Market Toronto West End (at Campbell Park) is a community that provides a collectively organized, non-monetary alternative to the current mainstream economic system. We believe in creating accessible, welcoming spaces where people can meet face to face to share goods, skills and ideas.”

Please feel free to visit their blog to get more information. They even have a guide to create your own community market! Isn’t that awesome? Yes it is, and so this people are.

After the fun, we had a delicious Lunch made by the wonderful ladies in charge of the Community Centre at Campbell Park. The menu? Chicken curry or veggie curry with rice and salad. Dessert? Dates truffles covered with shredded coconut or sesame seeds.

They cook every Sunday. You can go to the park to enjoy some fresh air and have a delicious food. Donations are welcome! They work really hard. They are like wonder women and I’m not exaggerating at all! A small show of gratitude would help to keep this initiative alive. They do it with love, let’s collaborate!

Fun is right at the corner, we just have to get up and go for it!

Thank you neighbours!

Last weekend was full of amazing stories, experiences, and treasures!
I want to thank my neighbours around Christie street who allowed me to take pictures of their fabulous stands and for the enthusiasm and support they showed towards this initiative. Thank you!

I was on my way to the Free Market at Campbell Park, but I’ll tell you all you need to know about it on the next post!
Meanwhile, you can take a look at the colourful and sunny weekend I had.

Something that I love about this, is that books are always a “seasonal” treasure. You’ll find them anywhere! What a perfect town for a reader!

My little neighbours were so kind, even recommended some books! It’s so nice to see younger generations interested in books, when we are living in a digital world.

Look at all the useful things other neighbours had to give! Actually, I got a beautiful vintage pin from here, only 25 cents!

For sushi and cookie lovers! What about making some cookies and put them in the colourful red and green triangle bowls for your guests? I bet that would taste and look amazing!

This treasure came all the way from Japan! The owner refers to her as the “creepy doll” but I think that she is really cute, and so soft! The eye is missing but can be replaced with a little button and she will look even prettier! I believe a little girl could find a new friend in that pretty doll.

A rain of things!

So here is a quick fact about me: I LOVE MICHAEL JACKSON.
Believe it or not, I decided not to take it because I made a decision a while ago about not buying more CDs. I’m joining the world of vinyls, but still, that is an amazing finding for all the fans!

A picnic basket! I had only seen those in the movies or cartoons. I found two in the same street, and one of those was for free!

This stand was alone. They were only asking for a collaboration and the records were 25 cents. You are a gold mine!

And of course, my treasures of the day!

A cute vintage finding!

I was riding my bike trying not to fall, juggling with this in my hands! I wouldn’t mind now, this is a true gem!

I guess I’ll have to go to anther thrifting adventure to find a beautiful vintage dress to put this beautiful pin on it!

What did you find this weekend?

When life throws you a sewing machine…

I was saving money to buy a camera and a sewing machine.

I still want the camera because I believe I can capture a better atmosphere with it, that will make you have a closer idea of how delicious the day was, or the nature elements that surrounded one of my adventures.

Anime is one of my favourite things to watch, and since I’m a very “fan-girl” I’ve always wanted to recreate the costumes of my favourite characters.

It was a light rain falling that day and the sky was as grey and opaque as my mood. Out of nowhere this thought invaded my head

“With my savings, what should I buy first? The sewing machine is less expensive than the camera… That’s it! The camera will be second!”

Immediately after I concluded in my mind, I couldn’t believe my eyes… What are the probabilities of thinking in something that you desire with your heart, and finding it right in front of you?

I didn’t know if that treasure was for free, but it was there over a chair with a couple of books. I doubted at first, still amazed, but as soon as I put together my senses, I took it gently and got back home.

Plugged it… WORKS! I shared this amazing moment with my closest friends and cried of joy! It has a thread tension, but nothing that a little bit of oil and tutorials can’t repair.

This is one of the reasons I do this. I believe in the power of attraction and what good actions and love can bring back to you.

The universe is always watching and speaks through this amazing happenings. Embrace yourself, love more and stay happy! Maybe there’s a special gift for you too that will give you not only an object, but a story to tell and make others happy.

Wally’s awesome garage sale

I finally met the owner of the fun house! His name is Wally and he surprised me when he spoke to me in a very fluent Spanish! I’d love to tell you more about “the king of the garage sales” (as he refers to himself) but I think that he deserves a special post. However, a little bit of what we experienced at Wally’s treasures sale.

Lots of records! I found a lot of classical music and an impressive variety of genres.

Finally found a head to style my wigs!!!

We are about to build a nice basement to play some good music with our friends

The fabric is to give that divan a new skin!

I’ll tell you about the records later if you like exotic rhythms.
